His Love

I can just see it.

"Come, Ruth.  Wake up."

"But God, I--"

"Come, Ruth.  I need you to pray."

"It's only 2:30 in the morning...  You know I need my sleep!"

"Ruth.  It's My daughter."

"Yes, Lord."

She slips out from under her toasty down comforter and kneels beside the bed.  "What is it, Lord?"

"Clarity.  She needs clarity."

"Okay."

And she prays.  And He hears.  And He answers.

"And lo, when hope had ceased to be, my God came down the stairs to me."  -The Heart of Romans, author unknown

She prayed for me as I sought Him.  A strange concept, no doubt.  God heard her, and He came to the place I had fallen.  He came down the stairs to me.

Me?  This God, who doesn't need any human being or any living creature--He loves His children with a love so fierce.  He saw my need and my utter brokenness and distress, and He woke her up to pray.

He!  God eternal, the One who made everything, everywhere--He cared so much about me, one daughter, to wake up another child in her sleep.  He woke her and told her to pray, and she did.

Why does this God care so much?  How is His love so eternal, so everlasting?  He is love.  His Book says so.

Today I'll bask in the knowledge of such a wonder.  He is a God of beauty and infinite love.
